From outdoor adventures to cultural experiences, here are some of the best things to do in Vancouver which are absolutely free.

Visit Stanley Park

Stanley Park is one of Vancouver’s most popular attractions, and for good reason. This massive urban park boasts stunning views of the city skyline, as well as lush forests, beaches, and gardens. You can easily spend a full day exploring the park’s trails and attractions, including the famous Totem Poles, Lost Lagoon, and the Seawall.

Check out Granville Island

Granville Island is another must-visit destination for any Vancouver tourist. This bustling island is home to a public market, artisan studios, street performers, and more. Spend the day wandering the narrow streets and taking in the sights, smells, and sounds of this vibrant community.

Explore the city’s art scene

Vancouver is home to a thriving arts community, and many galleries offer free admission. Check out the Vancouver Art Gallery, which offers free admission on Tuesdays after 5 PM. Other free art galleries include the Contemporary Art Gallery and the Belkin Art Gallery.

Stroll through the city’s neighborhoods

Vancouver’s neighborhoods are as diverse as they are beautiful. Take a stroll through Chinatown, where you’ll find colorful buildings, traditional markets, and delicious food. Alternatively, head to the trendy neighborhoods of Yaletown or Gastown, where you’ll find boutique shops, coffee shops, and galleries.

Hit the beach

Vancouver is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Head to English Bay or Kitsilano Beach to soak up the sun, or take a dip in the cool waters of the Pacific. Many beaches also offer free yoga and fitness classes throughout the summer.

Visit the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden

This stunning garden is a tranquil oasis in the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown. The garden features traditional Chinese architecture, winding pathways, and tranquil water features. Admission is free on the first Thursday of every month.

Sway on Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge

Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge is a great and FREE alternative to Capilano Suspension bridge and one of my favourite free things to do in Vancouver. This pedestrian bridge stretches over 50 meters across a deep canyon, offering breathtaking views of the Lynn Creek below.
